Another round of the rosy in my real life!

I am here for this, forever and always.  No matter how my insides feel or my outsides look (home, my body, whatever!) I will forever show up for the "rosy in my routine."

With so many courses and tips and so much PUSH to be a brand on social media I want to take a minute to say *remember*, this whole rosy business isn't a brand for me.  It's truly a game-changer for my mental health, my eyes, and my attitude towards life.  Friends, I've been doing this whole rosy, look on the bright side of life thing literally for life.  I was born this way! With that said, I don't always naturally feel that way.  Just like exercise is a practice that I usually don't feel like doing but it pays off anyway, so it is with looking on the rosier side of life.  The payoff is great.  Life suddenly becomes more interesting and creativity catches your eye in the most unusual of places. Really, in the most usual places too.  But because your rose-colored glasses are on, you're able to see it.

I always think of these posts and pictures as breadcrumbs as well.  Sustenance to look back on when my soul feels dry or my heart heavy.  I can't tell you how many times I've opened the blog back up or cracked open a photo book and looked at the photos that document my journey.  It cheers me up every single time!

Without further ado, just like the word that jumps out at me in the photo above, here is what I have been noticing lately!
This skirt of Betsy's is my absolute fave.  I wish it was in my size!
While putting squash and zucchini in the freezer I noticed the beautiful pattern and shapes on the inside.  Life, as art!
Brett and I made two jars of homemade kimchi and it is SO GOOD.

I tried a coconut milk yogurt bowl with granola, almond butter, blueberries, and a bit of honey. It was tasty!
We have picked so. many. tomatoes this summer.  They look like they're starting to slow down a bit and I really hope not! We have canned 28 jars I think, plus some salsa.  What a treat that will be this winter!
Anna made her own Farmer's Market stand in the yard one day.  Made me smile.

This juice pouch packaging caught my eye! Then we ended up buying them so good marketing strategy for this company! The design really stood out among all the cartoon boxes.
A rainbow spotted while camping at the Buffalo!
Another post about that soon.
THIS.
Seen in my new planner.
I make a really good homemade pizza, I'm just saying.
I am going to attempt making the dough and then freezing it for when school starts.
A real life view of a southern kitchen, or at least one with a garden!
Brett and I have canned tomatoes so many nights! I used to not like the process but now I find it very rewarding.  We work on this together and get it done pretty efficiently if you ask me!
We went to our favorite city (EVER), KC, for a couple of nights to celebrate our anniversary. We ate so much good food.  I could live in KC, we love it that much!
We even ate this bone marrow stuff. It was absolutely creamy and one of the most delicious things I've ever tasted. Very out of my comfort zone.
All of the art in KC always steals my heart.
I mean!! I've been to NYC before and also fell in love with it, but something about KC is just more our speed.  We've been so many times we feel like it's a home away from home and we just adore the art, food, and things to do there!

No, we aren't moving there (lol)-we just really like this place and it holds a ton of special memories for us.
I spotted this pretty dress shop window there too! I wish I would have gone inside.

We went to this cool used bookstore.  We thought it was ok. (no offense to anyone who loves this place!)  I must say out of all the used bookstores I've gone to or taken the kids to, the Dickson Street Bookstore remains top of the list.

Spotted at Ikea! I adore this.
Grandma and Papaw got guineas!!
We have visited their house a lot this summer since school has been out and it has been such a treat!

Your turn! I really do want to know-do you look for rosy moments, joyful things, or happiness in your world? Do you document it? Why or why not?

  1. I love this! I guess I've never called it 'looking for rosy things' but I try to choose gratitude. I look for things to be grateful for.

I love the real picture of your kitchen.

And if you haven't yet, I'd love to see some of your favorite places to stay/eat/visit in KC. We've been a few times & loved it. I'm not much of a city girl though. Do you remember the name of the dress shop? I'd love to go inside there.

    1. Hi! My apologies for the late response. I'm glad you commented! I like how you used the word gratitude in your comment. I have read studies on how that simple practice does WONDERS for our minds and bodies. I am actually teaching a class at church (with my husband) on a book called just that-Gratitude, starting soon. I'll have to see if there are any gems I can share on the blog.

:( I don't remember the name of the dress shop! Boo! Maybe you could google it?

  2. I really enjoy your blog and your outlook on life, though I rarely comment. As a blogger myself I realized how much I like getting comments and connecting with people so I thought I'd say hi. Thanks for bringing your own unique beauty to the world!

Oh, and I am SO jealous of all your tomatoes. How many plants do you have? My tomatoes haven't really started ripening in earnest, but I'm up in Wisconsin and our tomatoes are always later.

    Have a lovely weekend!

    1. Hi Anne with an e. :) Thanks so much for saying hi! I'm so glad you're here! :)
As for our tomatoes, they are strangely now done. :( We are so sad! Usually we can still pick them through October so this is rather early for them to be finished. We did get a lot canned so at least that's good. We had 12 tomato plants.
