Photography session-Miss "L"

Oh friends, you know how photography speaks to my heart.
This month I've been honored and blessed to have three photo sessions.
This particular gal holds a special place in my heart,

for you see-she is family.
Her heart is after missions....
so this photo speaks volumes.

Enjoy the rest!

(my gals jumped in one afternoon after church)

newborn photos

I took my first newborn photos.  In case you've missed the dozens of announcements here and there that I'm shooting in manual mode now, here it is again. It's not like "I'm shooting in manual, everything's easy breezy".  It's more like I now have even more than ever to learn.  But, I was able to adjust the settings like I wanted for these pics.

And this gal was gorgeous......and soft and sweet.

Aren't her eyes beautiful?

This is one of my favorites.

I was honored my friend trusted me to take these pictures.
I adore how they turned out!
of course, Miss "S" made it easy, she is truly beautiful.

If you'd like to schedule your own photo shoot see the tab above!

AWBU conference is coming!!...and my booth table!

Hi everybody!  How was your Labor Day?  Were you lucky enough to be off work?  Brett was and it was fabulous.  He spent most of the day Saturday raking/baling the hay and it was miserably hot. He, along with his mom, got it done though.  So yesterday we got to truly have a day off.
We took the boat out with the girls for the first time ever.  It was wonderful and I can't wait to share pictures with you soon.
This weekend I have the privilege and honor to attend the Arkansas Women Blogger's UNPLUGGED Conference.  Arkansas Women Blogger's page is a site I stumbled upon quite a while ago and don't even really remember how honestly.  It is a group of women who love to blog (duh), and are passionate about many things like writing, cooking, gardening, traveling, etc.

So, I mentioned a few months ago I won a full-paid scholarship to their conference this weekend. (WOW God!)  It is going to be at Ferncliff Camp and Conference Center, located near Little Rock.
On Saturday they'll be having a Handmade Market and this is a sneak peek at my booth idea!  I apologize for the low-light photos....I only work on things like this when the gals are asleep so this was a night owl shot. :)
The mini bunting under my business name says "My heart captured in photos."  I truly hope the other bloggers (all 100 of them!) will be able to see that these aren't just pictures I've snapped, here and there hoping to make a $. They are truly things that have captured my attention, and have spoken to my heart in some way.  I'm excited to set up shop and see how the response is.

And meet all those lovely gals from Arkansas!!

This conference sounds really unique in that there are a lot of different sessions you can pick from.
Here's a look at the ones I've picked out:
Sessions:
Workshop Session 1:
Option A-Being a Mom and a Writer (Tricia Goyer)

Workshop Session 2:
Option B: Life Balance-Tracey Eyster

Workshop Session 3:
Option B: Personal Narrative Workshop-Kyran Pittman

Workshop Session 4:
Option A: When Blogging Becomes your Business-7 Lessons We Learned the Hard Way-nwamotherlode

Workshop Session 5:
Option A: Author Roundtable

Workshop Session 8:
Option A: We Go Together-(working with others)

In looking at this neat schedule I can tell my mind, heart, and soul will be fed!  It's not just all about blogging, but touching on a number of things I'm passionate about.  Plus, Sophie Hudson, a.k.a. "Boo Mama" will be there! She's hilarious and makes me laugh. I could really go on and on about how excited I am about this conference! There will be new friends to meet, great food, a 5k race, and connections galore.  I'm so thankful God has steered me towards this weekend.  I'll let you know how it goes!

(and yes, I'm a tiny bit nervous to meet all those new people without my gals and Brett. But surely a brave life is a more fulfilling one than a "run and hide" one, right?  )

Recent photo shoots: One-year old and a family!

Good morning!
I've had the honor of doing some photo shoots lately that were a lot of fun.
The first session was with a little boy who just turned one.
He was all over the props I had laid out and wanted to stand up most of the time and I loved that!
His smile is just the cutest.

The second shoot is of my twin sis and her family.
What a precious, fun-loving family!

I hope you enjoy taking a peek at these!

Little quiet bursts of creativity...

{first-a huge shout-out to all of you sweet readers! Thank-you for being generous with your time and words and commenting/reading!  I apologize I haven't been diligent about getting back to your comments. I'll do better :) and in the meantime I'm enjoying reading every. single. one. XO)
Oh creativity, how do I love thee?
Let me count the ways....
I'm finding as I look back on folders overflowing with photos on the computer,
a life lived with creativity doesn't always happen in big shouts and exclamations.
Sometimes those grandeur moments are what take center-stage...so and so we saw in a magazine,
or a gal with a following larger than a flock of birds.

What speaks to me and impresses me the most lately are the quiet, little pockets of creativity that can be found in our real, everyday life.  However grandeur that may be at the moment.

I've collected a few little moments or scenes captured, that to me is creativity at it's best.  Authentic, real-life moments when the mundane could have been chosen over the magnificent, but wasn't.
One essential part of our creative life are regular trips to the library.  From the gorgeous photography, helpful advice and inspiration, and great color schemes (like the pink and red above) we always come traipsing back home with book bags overflowing with goodness.
A favorite thing of mine is to gather little bits and bobs and compile them into a creative collage.
I have a few listed in my shop and plan to make more.  I usually think of a particular theme and go from there.  The theme above (in my mind at least) was summer....
Creativity can even be found in something as simple as photographing a bowl of delicious, local peaches!  If you look around your house you can be amazed at what works for a quick photo shoot.
I also love journaling, and lately have been learning more about art journaling.  From my perspective-there are books galore that can "teach" you different ways to art journal but I think you need to just jump on in.  Tell perfectionism to run for the hills and get busy drawing what makes your heart glad. And when you want to pick your pages apart ten thousand ways-
don't.
I tried something new this particular day by taking a regular photograph and sanding the top down with sandpaper to create a vintage/old look.
Sigh......this is our summer list, all huddled together in a bowl, on their last hurrah.
We've done almost everything on the list and are looking forward to creating a new one for autumn.
If we're going to be intentional about anything around here, I at least hope celebration is included!

{How can you inject little quiet bursts of creativity in your days?}

(and we'll end with a LOUD burst of creativity, my new flyer for photo shoots!
