The In-Between

The dear 'ol in-between....you usually don't know when your feet have landed there but for some reason this August it is just so evident how far away the true free days of summer feel and also the bundled up, cozy days of autumn.  So here we are, one foot dangling in the looking ahead and expectation of autumn.  One foot dangling in all that can be squeezed out of the last bit of summer.
It's a rather odd, thrilling balancing act, being in the middle.  I suppose really, now that I think about it, it's rather like most of life, isn't it?
I find it a beautiful collage, when summer tomatoes show up with autumn twinkle lights.

My birthday is tomorrow and I'll be turning 31.  Something about this time of year always reminds me of fresh starts-new school years, a season of rest up ahead, tucking in for winter.  Another year older.

I've pondered my "list" for my birthday last year and it's surprising to me how the many opportunities I had and the fun my feet found aren't what stick out the most in my mind's memories.  My "list" isn't a gift list, it's a list of experiences or things I'd like to enjoy in my new birthday year.  I'm happy to say the big things happened, like meeting a blogging friend and being published in Artful Blogging.
I wouldn't trade my birthday list experiences for the world.  But it's the trips to the White River, my discovery of paint, the best smoked ribs and burgers in the world, Anna Ruth's constant funny chatter like "Let's Get TYPICAL!", reading a fantastic book......
those are the items that have made my 30th birthday year so very rich.

All this talk of "the middle" and reflecting on my last day of 30 has taught me one major thing this year.
There is much to be said, felt, tasted, and savored
about sweet serendipity.

the occurrence and development of events by chance in a happy or beneficial way.

{Come back tomorrow for a fun birthday giveaway of some of my favorite things!}
