Announcement: Rosy Retreats!

Art retreat.  These two tiny words began to catch my attention a few years back.  It was the kind of scenario when you don’t really notice something at all until you start looking for it and then-my word!  You’re noticing a particular thing or idea everywhere.

The idea of an art retreat was more than appealing to me.  I’ve almost never met a stranger and deeply love art in all of its creative forms.  A place where you can combine the two and be served food and recharge?  Where’s the sign-up sheet? !  I wanted my name at the top of the list.

As I began to lean in more closely and pay attention to the voices of the retreat world, two types of available options became clear.  First, there were the retreats hosted in picturesque towns with sleepovers and the top experts in the arts and crafts industries teaching.  Although dreamy sounding, these also came with a pretty steep price tag and time away from family.  Neither of which I could afford during my current season of life as a stay-at-home mama to two toddler girls.   Also, if we’re being totally honest, neither of which I was comfortable with in general.
The second types of opportunities for gathering were craft nights.  These venues were usually much more affordable, concerning both time and money.  Plus you got to leave with a craft you made!  Craft nights were something I could do but the idea of them left me wanting more.  I admired the 3 or 4 day retreats for the way they touched on practices to keep your soul restored and creative once you arrived back home. I wanted the dreamy setting of a lifestyle retreat, special touches here and there.
The quote “Be the change you wish to see in the world” leapt off the page and stared me straight in the eyes one magical afternoon.  It was as if the world stopped momentarily and God whispered “This is it.” You see, I’d already been blogging about and searching for the rosy life.  A life that treasures, looks for, and finds the rosy in the routine.

My wheels began spinning.  What if I could offer a different type of retreat?  What if, instead of staring at the void I suspected in the retreat world, I filled the void myself with my own ideas?

And that, my friends, is how the idea for Rosy Retreats was born.  They include the special touches, practices, and recharging a multiple day event does, but within the space of one evening on the farm.
Rosy Retreats are focused on the concept of finding the rosy in the routine. You won’t find a steep price tag or a list of costly materials.  Our minds, creativity, generosity, and inspiration are all free!  Time spent refreshing our souls shouldn’t be exclusive and limited to only those who can afford it.
Here’s a look at what you will find at a Rosy Retreat:

From photographing the wildflowers on the farm, to styling a beautiful food photo, each retreat will focus on a different aspect of including photography in your everyday routine without letting perfectionism stand in the way.

Eating well and savoring the many ways our food tastes is one of my favorite ways to include a little more rosy in my routine.  Each night will also have delicious appetizers served, as well as coffee, hot tea, and water.

There’s a common fear that in order to make something beautiful it must be perfect.  We’ll remind ourselves the truth at Rosy Retreats-that when our hands connect with our souls we create beautiful, authentic things.  Each retreat night will include making 2-3 crafts or projects.

Rosy Retreats aren’t simply a make and take night.  Instead their purpose is to create a dreamy, relaxing atmosphere for an evening on the farm where participants can be recharged for their everyday lives and stay that way once they arrive back home.  From special decorative touches at the cabin, to questions, conversations, and twinkle lights, my dream is to leave you with a spring in your step that lasts.  I want you to end the night, donning a pair of rose-colored glasses to view the world differently than when you came.  You will also leave with a few handmade wares made by me!
Rosy Retreats are each created with a unique concept in mind so no two retreats are alike.  You are free to attend as many retreats as you wish without having to worry about repeat crafts or exercises.

Each retreat is held on my farm, just minutes away from both Fayetteville and Springdale.  Hosted inside our farm cabin, they will also include time spent on the farm, whether that be sketching, noticing, photographing, or savoring the great outdoors.   It is recommended you wear appropriate shoes for walking outdoors.

The first retreat will be held on Friday, September 12th from 7:00-10:00 p.m.  and is open to the first 12 people to sign up!   The cost is $35.

To sign up-
1.) Email me (sunshinebysara@hotmail.com)! I will then email you an invoice through Paypal so you can officially purchase a spot in the retreat.
If more than 12 people are interested and you don’t get a spot in this retreat I will put your name at the top of the waiting list for the next one!  Retreats will be held throughout the year!

Questions or comments?  Ask below or feel free to email me as well!
(I am SO excited about this! I hope to see you at an upcoming retreat!)

  4. I love this idea. You really hit the nail on the head with this one. I would love to be able to "retreat to the sea" or ranch or where ever but leaving my family and parting with up to a thousand dollars or more is just not an option right now so to have an evening with like minded souls sounds perfect. I wish I was closer (I live in Southern California) as I would be the first one on your sign up sheet. I host craft nights a few times a year but you have inspired me to focus on the retreat aspect. I love it...and congratulations for listening to and following that still small voice.
