Kansas City was a blast.

Last weekend was my annual Girls' Trip with my twin sis and best friend since college.  We usually go to Tulsa but decided to branch out a bit this year and make it to Kansas City.
Kansas City, I loved you! Where have I been? I can't believe I don't remember visiting this wonderful city since childhood.  We had such an amazing time and left with still so much to see and do.
From eating at Cheesecake Factory (no cheesecake for me, but the food was great!), to shopping and exploring this beautiful city, we had such a wonderful time!

I, of course, hit inspiration overload by the window displays at Anthropologie.  Can we say dream job?  "You want me to paint newspaper and make a jungle scene out of it, including a tiny, perfect tree frog?  Ok!"  I mean seriously, I left wanting to set up a jungle somewhere in my home.

Window displays are actually on my ever-growing dream job list. :)
Plus we met the sweetest gal ever working at Anthropologie.  Really, I would say that was the theme of the whole trip.  Even a lady at one of the thrift stores handed me an Ann Taylor Loft wrap dress she'd stowed in the cart because she thought I "might like it".  Reason number one million why I genuinely love people.

Our hotel was close to Country Club Plaza so we could easily walk down and eat/shop/see a movie.  Funny story, while walking across a very busy street with live music and everything at the Plaza, my shoe broke! It was just like a movie scene.  I somehow hobbled across and bought a new pair (quickly!) at H &M!

These statues on the way back to the hotel really took our breath away.  They made me want to paint something similar.  There is just such freedom looking at those little braids flying high.

One of my most favorite parts of the trip was visiting the free art museum!  And to think we didn't even make it inside and I still loved it!
This tree-lined path was just dreamy.  As were the sculptures outside of the museum.

I left Kansas City so recharged.  It was so incredibly nice to buy new (ok, thrifted!) outfits, spend time on my makeup, and unload some heavy burdens I'd been carrying around to the girls.
The pep in my step was back by the time we arrived home.  I seriously LOVE visiting new places!
How about you?  Do you go exploring very often?
There is so much to explore in our very own cities too!
Wouldn't it be fun to pick one Saturday morning, every couple of months, to set aside for free time and exploring, camera and journal in hand?
